Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 

Directs and coordinates activities of production department in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • To be effective, the person needs to have good communication and people skills in general.
    • Directing and prioritizing work within the tool room, across a wide range of talents/personalities
    • Many interactions required with engineering on the design/requirements of specialty parts/projects, die design, etc.
    • Coordination required with production and maintenance to keep the plant running efficiently
      • Machine repairs
      • Projects
      • Improvements   
  • The tool room supervisor also plays a critical role in keeping the press room running
    • Prioritizing die repairs/rework required
    • Ordering punches/die buttons/bushings, etc.
    • Working with engineering on die drawings, modifications, etc.

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages subordinate supervisors
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of his department
  • Supervises all employees
  • Hiring, interviewing and training of all employees
  • Responsible for the ordering and maintaining supplies needed for all aspects of production

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Business College Degree or equivalent; or minimum of five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Computer Technical Skills

 

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to stand continuously for 8 – 12 hours.
  • Ability to work in tight places
  • Strength and manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools to make repairs
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively.
  • Ability to stand, crouch and climb
  • Ability to use ladders to perform various types of manual labor.
  • Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.
  • Visual (with correction) sufficient to read blue prints and orders and the ability to record the information either manually or in a computer.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Ear and eye protection required at all times in all production areas.
  • Exposure to a noisy work environment
  • Exposure to hot and humid conditions
  • Exposure to coolants, oils, grease and water
