As we enter a new market, we are thrilled to begin our search for a Assistant General Manager (AGM) at our newest Planet Fitness location in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia!

The AGM is a charismatic people-oriented leader who is both a brand ambassador and strategic operations leader. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this individual will be responsible for the oversight of gym operations for a new club to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience, as well as a financially successful club.

The AGM will assist the GM with hiring, onboarding and leading a team of employees in a positive, motivating manner with continuous assistance in employee training and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Alongside various corporate business partners, actively participate in new club opening activities.
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop a high performing staff consisting of Member Services Representatives and Trainer.
  • Assist in scheduling and supervising staff to ensure that all shifts are regularly covered.
  • Ensure staff is providing a superior customer experience at all times.
  • Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.
  • Assist in approving and processing weekly club payroll preparing necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests and ensure staff follows superior customer service guidelines.

Lead by example and maintain consistent accountability for direct reports by training and coaching, ensuring adherence to Taymax Group’s values and goals.

  • Lead by example with involvement in all front desk related activities.
  • Greet members and guests, providing exceptional customer service to ensure that everyone feels welcome!
  • Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
  • Check members into the system, tour and sign-up new members, log amenities and communicate updates or events to members and guests.
  • Facilitate all member requests and help to resolve any member issues and questions.

Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of facility including taking responsibility for largest section of cleaning daily.

  • Ensure the service desk area and front lobby is clean and orderly.
  • Participate in regular facility cleaning and club upkeep such as mopping up spills, trash removal, cleaning windows and mirrors and re-racking weights.
  • Ensure safety of employees, members and club property by determining when equipment or facilities are in need of repair and communicating to the Facilities Maintenance team in a timely manner.
  • Provide backup support for any employee who is absent.
  • Assist in ordering of supplies using specific budget based on club requirements.

  • Assist in tracking various statistics and reports on a weekly, monthly, and annually basis.

  • Assist in managing marketing efforts to ensure that all staff are aware and trained on all marketing promotions.

  • Other duties as assigned based on club needs.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Possess a results-driven attitude with the ability to work independently, make quick decisions and prioritize appropriately.
  • Proven track record of leading a team and maintaining a high performing, service-driven and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed.
  • Discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Workday (cloud-based HRIS system) is an asset.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one- two years of relevant experience in a customer service environment position.
  • Must have valid driver's licence, acceptable driving record and must have own reliable means of transportation.
  • A passion for fitness and health.

Physical Demands:

  • Continual standing and walking.
  • Continual talking and listening, in person or on the telephone.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, as well as bend, crouch and reach on a daily basis.
  • Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.
