Job Description Summary

The Global Pricing Manager owns global pricing strategy for the business units Personal Care and Coatings within Elementis and execution across product categories, ensuring value-based price positioning and margin optimization. The role connects market insights, cost structures, and commercial execution to drive pricing consistency, margin quality, and profitable growth across regions.

Location: Porto / Portugal

Responsibilities

1 - You lead product category pricing strategy.

Develop and deploy value‑based pricing frameworks aligned with margin targets, portfolio positioning, and competitive dynamics. Define pricing models (value‑based, cost‑plus, competitive, tiered) and ensure consistency across regions while allowing structured local input.

2 - You own market and competitor pricing intelligence.

Build transparent pricing benchmarks across segments and categories, customer willingness‑to‑pay insights, and market trends in collaboration with Segment Managers, Sales, Procurement, and Innovation Delivery. Translate insights into pricing actions, opportunities, and risk mitigation.

3 - You drive cost-to serve and margin quality.

Partner closely with Finance and Data teams to ensure accurate, up‑to‑date standard cost information. Monitor cost fluctuations, price realization, and margin leakage, recommending price adjustments aligned with capacity utilization rates, elasticity, volume, and portfolio objectives.

4 - You own price execution

Define pricing for new products, iterations, and portfolio changes. Own price lists, discount structures, and approval frameworks, ensuring consistency and governance. Enable dynamic pricing approaches to optimize asset utilization, improve price realization, and support margin and portfolio objectives.

5 - You support customers and commercial teams.

Act as a strategic advisor to Sales on pricing negotiations, discount structures, rebates, and long‑term agreements. Lead pricing work for large or global contract renewals in close alignment with Finance and Sales leadership. Define requirements and promote usage of Power BI pricing dashboards to monitor profitability by product, customer, and segment.

Decision making

  • You have authority to define and implement global pricing frameworks, including price lists, discount structures, and approval mechanisms.
  • You own pricing decisions for new products, portfolio changes, and pricing adjustments, balancing margin, volume, and market dynamics in close alignment with Segment Management and Sales.
  • You define the relevant KPIs to track pricing performance (e.g. price realization, margin quality, discount leakage) and report regularly to the Global Head of Strategic Marketing.

  • Strong pricing strategy capability in a complex, multi-plant and multi-region environment

Ability to manage pricing across a complex business landscape, understanding interdependencies between cost, volume, capacity utilization, customer segments, and regional dynamics. Translates these insights into clear, fact-based pricing strategies that optimize margin, price realization, and portfolio performance.

  • Excellent commercial and financial judgement:

Balances customer value, profitability, market dynamics, and operational constraints to make sound pricing trade-offs. Applies judgement in complex situations where pricing, cost fluctuations, demand elasticity, and stakeholder interests intersect.

  • Strong stakeholder alignment and pricing execution leadership:

Brings cross-functional teams together to create shared understanding of pricing strategies, trade-offs, and decisions. Drives alignment across Strategic Marketing, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, and Data to enable timely, transparent, and effective price execution.

  • Data-driven decision making in pricing:

Uses cost data, price realization, elasticity insights, market benchmarks, and margin performance indicators to prioritize actions and optimize pricing outcomes. Focuses resources on areas with the highest financial and strategic impact.

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or equivalent. MBA is desirable.

Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in B2B environments, with relevant experience in pricing, finance, marketing, or commercial roles within multinational organizations

Skills: Advanced pricing analytics, financial modelling, Power BI or similar tools, stakeholder management.

Language: Fluent English (written and spoken).

Working arrangements: Porto, Portugal based, Hybrid working.

Travel: 20-30% of time, travel is required.
