About the Role
We’re looking for a highly detail-oriented, disciplined, and methodical professional to join our team as Manager, Operational Controls. In this role, you will strengthen the organization’s control environment by managing the SOC monitoring program and leading the execution of advisory engagements. The position leverages data analytics and AI to identify risks, enhance controls, and improve operational effectiveness. Success is measured through reduced risk exposure, reliable control execution, and successful engagement outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Lead in the development of the annual Advisory Engagement Plan.
Lead in the execution of all phases (e.g. planning, fieldwork, reporting) of each engagement within the annual Advisory Engagement Plan.
Partner with stakeholders to assess risks, identify control gaps, and recommend the implementation of practical solutions that strengthen controls and reduce operational risk.
Apply SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, workflows, agent-based solutions) to analyze control performance, identify trends, and automate audit routines.
Lead and support SOC monitoring activities, ensuring controls are effectively designed, documented, and operating effectively to support successful audit and attestation outcomes.
Identify and implement improvements that enhance control effectiveness, scalability, and efficiency.
Influence control owners through guidance, training, and collaboration to strengthen control awareness, responsible adoption of automation and AI, and accountability across the organization.
Use data analytics and AI to solve complex control challenges, automate processes, and improve scalability.
Provide indirect leadership to team members and influence cross-functional stakeholders, guiding control owners and supporting capability development across teams.
Support reliable, compliant operations through effective control oversight and risk mitigation.
Basic Qualifications
Experience in audit, controls, compliance, or risk management.
Minimum five years of progressive professional experience, including experience in a multinational company managing multiple and complex processing requirements simultaneously.
Strong project management skills with the ability to multi-task.
Proven facilitation and coaching experience, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical background, including the ability to break down and work through complex problems in a structured manner using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deal with complex problems, influence others, and present recommendations and findings in a clear, concise format.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience accepted.
SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, AI (Agentic Workflow), Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint skills preferred.
Certification CPA, CIA, or CISA preferred.
Excellent documentation discipline with meticulous attention to detail; ability to manage SOPs, workflows, and policy governance.
Outstanding team player committed to success; capable of working within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Demonstrates resilience, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Location- Owings Mills, MD
The hiring base salary range for this position is $101,900 - $140,140 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
