Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Architectural Studies

STATUS: Part time
DEPARTMENT: Technical Education

DIVISION: Academic Affairs
REPORTS TO: ARCH Program Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour

(This position is FWS eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with all full time and adjunct instructors as needed.

2. Organize and inventory classrooms and studio supplies, tools, and equipment.

3. Manage the use of specialized equipment such as printer/plotter, 3D printers, laser engraver, mitre saw, etc. for program instructors and students.

4. Assist with drafting, design, and modeling projects for the program and courses.

5. Attend college marketing and recruiting events on and off campus, as well as assist in program-sponsored nights, such as College Night and the Advisory Committee.

6. Complete marketing materials for the program and program events using graphic software (Photoshop, SketchUp, Canva, InDesign, etc.).

7. Perform miscellaneous office and clerical duties. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. GPA of 2.0 or above.

2. Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours in the fall/spring semester toward your declared major at JJC.

3. Proficient in CADD and computer graphic software, such as Canva, and the Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites.

4. Ability to learn Microsoft Forms, 25Live, Catertrax, and other JJC systems.

5. Ability to use hand tools and small power tools.

6. Knowledge of Architecture terminology, methods, and procedures.

7. Knowledge of high technology equipment, such as plotters.

8. Good organizational and note-taking skills.

9. The ability to work independently and stay on task.

  • Ability to lift, carry, stack, and maneuver objects on occasion

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Duties are performed indoors in classrooms or labs and occasionally in an outdoor environment.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
