Job Description
The HSSE Advisor, Point of Contact, is responsible for supporting and coordinating all operational and safety programs between Oceaneering and Shell.
This U.S.-based role is aligned with the Morgan City, LA office and classified as hybrid, with occasional requirements to work in offshore environments. Remote work or alternate designated locations may be approved based on business needs.
Work schedules are driven by project requirements and are established by the manager. This position may require domestic travel and the ability to work extended hours during critical operational periods.
Serve as the primary liaison between Shell and Oceaneering on HSSE and operational contract matters.
Participate in vessel mobilizations and demobilizations; attend HAZIDs, client meetings, and offshore visits.
Maintain current knowledge of Oceaneering and Shell HSSE policies, procedures, and operational processes.
Understand and effectively communicate client expectations to internal stakeholders.
Collect, analyze, and distribute KPI data to Oceaneering and Shell teams.
Compile and interpret statistical data related to company and client HSSE lagging indicators.
Conduct inspections and audits of vessels, worksites, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory and management system requirements.
Conduct or coordinate worker training and mentoring related to safety regulations, hazard identification, use of safety equipment, and scope-of-work compliance.
Participate in incident and injury investigations; assist in identifying root causes and developing preventive measures.
Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.
REQUIRED
Minimum of five (5) years of offshore experience.
Valid driver’s license: ability to obtain TWIC, passport, and required offshore certifications.
Capable of fulfilling domestic travel requirements, particularly to Houston and Port Fourchon, with periodic overnight commitments.
Able to operate effectively in offshore and remote field environments, including extended assignments in challenging conditions.
DESIRED
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience working on Shell projects, preferably offshore.
Familiarity with Oceaneering’s Safety Management System.
Knowledge of operational procedures, concepts, and commonly used practices within the field.
Strong understanding of customer service principles.
Proficiency in standard office software applications.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively.
Working Conditions
- Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
- Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place.
- Work surface is stable (flat).
