Job Description

About the Role:

The NEMT Wheelchair Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring safe and reliable transportation for individuals with mobility challenges. This position involves not only driving but also assisting passengers in and out of the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. The driver will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good working condition and adhering to all safety regulations and protocols. A key aspect of this role is to provide compassionate and respectful service, fostering a positive experience for all passengers. Ultimately, the NEMT Wheelchair Driver contributes significantly to the overall well-being and independence of those they serve.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in driving wheelchair-accessible vehicles or similar transportation experience.
  • Ability to lift and assist passengers in wheelchairs safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of local transportation routes and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport passengers in wheelchairs to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation sessions, and other necessary destinations.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, including passenger details and any incidents that may occur.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or needs of passengers during transport.
