
High Desert NEMT Driver - Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

About the Role:
The NEMT Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients to and from medical appointments within the High Desert areas including, but not limited to Barstow, Desert Hot Springs, Yucca Valley, Palm Desert, Palm Springs etc. This position is essential for maintaining the continuity of care, as it directly impacts patients' access to necessary healthcare services. The driver will be responsible for adhering to strict schedules while providing a compassionate and supportive environment for patients during transit. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the vehicle in good working condition and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Ultimately, the NEMT Driver contributes to the overall efficiency of the healthcare system by facilitating patient mobility and enhancing their healthcare experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience in a customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals.
- Knowledge of local healthcare facilities and services.
Responsibilities:
- Transport patients to and from medical appointments in a safe and timely manner.
- Assist patients with boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport schedules and any incidents that may occur during transit.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition.
- Communicate effectively with staff and patients to coordinate transportation needs.

The required skills for this position include excellent driving abilities and a strong commitment to safety, which are essential for transporting patients without incident. Effective communication skills are vital, as the driver must interact with patients and healthcare staff to ensure smooth operations. Compassion and patience are also important, as drivers often assist individuals who may be anxious or in need of extra support.
