
Domestic & Sexual Violence Therapist
Job Description

Consider applying for this therapist position with Unity House of Troy’s Domestic & Sexual Violence Program, which also provides trauma-informed services to individuals living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) in supported housing settings.
Salary:
- Fully Licensed LCSW or LMHC: $66,770.73 – $69,565.00 (salary posted is for fully licensed)
- Limited Permit / LMSW: $59,789.34, with clinical supervision provided
- Position may qualify for a sign on bonus
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual therapeutic counseling to youth and adult victims of domestic & sexual violence. Provide clinical services to individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) residing in supported housing programs, using a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach.
Conduct home visits, as well as in-office and telehealth appointments, based on client needs. Assist clients with safety planning, mental health stabilization, and resource linkages, including housing, medical, and social services.
Coordinate care with internal programs, supported housing staff, and external community providers.
Engage in case planning, documentation, and program development guided by Trauma-Informed Care and best practices for SMI populations.
Facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups, as needed.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, including housing providers and behavioral health agencies.
Promote a culture of inclusion, equity, recovery, and belonging for all program participants.
Qualifications:
LCSW, LMSW, or LMHC (supervision provided for limited permit clinicians).
2–4 years of Master’s-level experience providing individual therapeutic counseling.
Comfort facilitating group therapy and working with clients with complex trauma histories. Prior experience with domestic violence, serious mental illness, mental health, or substance use populations preferred.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid NYS Driver License.
