JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
MCC’s Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic and experienced non-credit instructors with creative fabrication expertise to develop and deliver engaging, hands-on classes focused on digital design and laser cutting to create acrylic mobiles, laser-engraved items, and other similar fabrication projects. Instructors will guide learners through the full design-to-fabrication process using relevant tools and equipment. This role emphasizes creativity and an inclusive learning environment for learners of varying ages and experience levels. This position will have various teaching opportunities throughout the year and will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging and practical course content that enhances students’ personal growth and enriches their lives.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Teach community education classes centered on designing and making acrylic mobiles and related laser-cut projects, 3D printed objects, and/or woodworking projects
Provide step-by-step instruction in relevant design software
Demonstrate safe and effective use of fabrication equipment
Differentiate instruction to support beginner through intermediate learners
Foster a creative, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrable knowledge of at least one of the following fabrication machines and related software, materials, and trends: 3D printers, laser cutters, graphics and software instruction, welding and plasma cutting, woodworking and CNC, powdercoating and painting, metal milling
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse learners
Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
This position will have random teaching opportunities throughout the year.
MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area, including Fremont and Blair. Most classes are held weeknights and weekends.
