Duties and Responsibilities:
- Marketing and Business Development
- Promote the value of underwriting excellence in Taiwan by leveraging RGA’s global underwriting reputation.
- Provide proactive underwriting input to support quotations and improve win rates.
- Identify and develop marketing tools and value-added services to strengthen the positioning of the RGA Underwriting team with current and prospective clients.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key underwriting stakeholders, including clients, prospective clients, and industry peers.
- Participate in client presentations, industry seminars, and on-site visits to promote RGA’s underwriting capabilities.
- Represent RGA in relevant industry and professional working groups.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends (e.g., associations, client strategies, and competitor activities) that may impact underwriting in Taiwan.
- Lead or contribute to underwriting initiatives, projects, and market research to support business growth in Taiwan.
- Stay current on underwriting developments within RGA to ensure delivery of world-class, innovative services to the Taiwan market.
- General Underwriting Services and Client Management
- Provide timely, professional underwriting support to client companies (e.g., responding to enquiries and supporting special projects). Ensure service timelines and quality standards are consistently met.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within target client organizations, with a primary focus on underwriting operational support. Communicate with clients to increase awareness of RGA’s services and expertise.
- UW Expert
- Serve as a subject matter expert (as a leader or team member) on special projects, committees, meetings, and client presentations, as required. Represent the company at relevant industry conferences, associations, and task forces.
- GUM Localization and Management
- Communicate to GUM team and ensure the manual remains current, market-relevant, and competitive.
- Develop local underwriting guidelines for products outside the GUM (e.g., Taiwan cancer products), as required by business needs.
- Establish and maintain internal underwriting standards, documentation, and control guidelines for RGA Taiwan.
- Facultative UW
- Provide facultative underwriting services to existing clients and new prospects.
- Underwrite and approve facultative cases in line with RGA standards and within the authority delegated by the Regional Chief Underwriter. Escalate cases exceeding local authority to Regional Underwriting for final approval, and discuss marginal cases with Regional Underwriting prior to decision.
- Periodically review facultative underwriting operations to ensure appropriate strategies, productivity, and performance expectations are met.
- UW Audit
- Design and implement an annual client underwriting audit program for RGA Taiwan.
- Support client audits as needed.
- Training
- Develop and deliver underwriting training plans and seminars for clients and prospects.
- Other services
- Prepare and deliver monthly sharing to clients.
- Support selected clients on second-opinion cases.
- Maintain Appropriate Records and Reporting to Support the Responsibilities Above
- Develop and track reporting metrics to monitor the effectiveness of underwriting initiatives against agreed expectations.
- Ensure underwriting worksheets and all client correspondence are appropriately filed.
- Document and file the rationale and supporting materials for underwriting initiatives.
- Prepare and issue client visit reports.
Requirements:
- University graduate, with professional designation such as, FLMI/AAII/ACII/FALU, etc.
- Have at least 5-10 years sound medical underwriting experience either in a direct company or a reinsurance company, with extensive exposure in the life insurance field and understanding Taiwan market.
- Possess leadership, inter-personal relationship skills, good common sense, alert, organized, with a detailed mindset and business acumen.
- Fluency in English, Mandarin and Taiwanese.
