JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
Provides instructional and classroom management support to ensure continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The Guest Teacher delivers lessons aligned with district objectives, fosters a positive and collaborative learning environment, and maintains professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. The role requires a strong commitment to student achievement, effective communication, and the flexibility to support various schools and grade levels throughout Adams County School District 14.
REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent
Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
License / Certification Required
Must hold or be able to hold a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Substitute Authorization
or initial, professional teaching license
Work Experience Required
Minimum of two (2) years experience with infants and toddlers in a licensed child care facility with at least one (1) year in a management role
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with children of all school ages.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with students.
Ability to follow lesson plans, implement strategies, and classroom management.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software.
Physical capability to actively engage with children and meet their developmental needs.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
FUNDING
This position is may be funded through an EASI Grant for a one-year period beginning with the 2025–2026 school year and employment may be dependent on the successful renewal of funding.
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
Supervise and support students of all school ages across educational settings to ensure safety, engagement, and academic success.
Deliver and implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, adapting instruction as necessary to meet student needs.
Support the learning and development of all students, including those with disabilities, English language learners, and students with individualized education plans (IEPs or 504s).
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
Communicate effectively with school staff to ensure continuity of instruction and classroom management.
Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction when appropriate to reinforce lesson content and support individual learning goals.
Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies and established behavioral expectations.
Monitor student engagement and progress, reporting concerns to appropriate staff members.
Use district technology tools and educational software to support instruction and student learning.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
Assist students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school routines as needed.
Uphold district policies and maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
Policy, Reports and Law
Comply with all applicable federal laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Title I and Title III program requirements (as applicable), along with other national regulations governing K–12 public education.
Comply with all State of Colorado education laws and regulations, including the Colorado Reading to Ensure Academic Development Act (READ) (if applicable), the Exceptional Children’s Educational Act (ECEA) (if applicable), and all standards and guidelines established by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE).
Follow all relevant Board of Education policies and Adams 14 Operational Policies related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, safety, student services, and professional conduct.
Adhere to district-level procedures and school-based expectations regarding instruction, family communication, data reporting, and school improvement planning.
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools.

Perform other related duties as assigned by school or district administrators.
Participate in professional development opportunities as offered by the district to enhance instructional effectiveness and classroom management skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical demands, work environment factors and mental functions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in offices, hallways, gyms, classrooms, bathrooms, shops, playgrounds, cafeterias, portable buildings and pool environments. The employee may be required to work from a remote location in the event of a district shut-down or other event. Employees may be required to work evenings and weekends and attend events where community members are in attendance.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate.
TRANSPARENCY IN PAY AND BENEFITS

We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees. Compensation for this position is $20 to $30 per hour (2025-2026), based on verified experience and qualifications, and aligned with the Adams 14 salary schedule. This position is scheduled for Daily as needed not to exceed 188 work days annually.

This position is considered part-time and is not eligible for benefits.
