PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This position works with cross-functional teams to plan and implement new technology solutions to solve complex business problems. Responsible for installing, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining all server hardware, software, storage, and virtualization operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
- Relevant certifications are a plus
- Five years of experience in a Systems Administrator/Engineer role supporting complex environments
- Five years of experience supporting VMware virtualization technologies
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience configuring, implementing, and maintaining server and storage operations in a converged/hyper-converged virtualized environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Windows Server administration and support
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Active Directory administration and support
- Extensive knowledge and experience with server virtualization, VMware preferred
- Knowledge and experience with enterprise storage (SAN) administration and support
- Knowledge and experience maintaining and supporting backup and recovery systems
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365 administration and support
- Knowledge and experience with Google Workspace administration and support
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities efficiently and effectively
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, configure, implement, and support the enterprise server infrastructure in accordance with strategic plans while ensuring systems are optimized for performance and designed for high availability, redundancy, and failover.
- Administer virtual servers and applications including server provisioning, resource allocation, optimization, configuration, maintenance, and support.
- Administer the storage area network (SAN) environment including configuration, provisioning, performance analysis, and optimization.
- Plan and implement procedures to ensure that backups of all systems are performed on a regular basis. Restore data as needed.
- Manage and support Active Directory/Entra ID services and supporting infrastructure including design, identity and access management, permissions, file and print, groups, and container structures.
- Plan, implement, and support as needed, new server/storage systems, applications, and hardware including upgrades, firmware updates, maintenance fixes, and patches.
- Assist with Azure solution migrations and management. Administer and support the Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments.
- Supports integrated ITIL processes with Incident, Change, and Problem management. Develops plans to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring; maintain service levels in accordance with SLAs. Ensures all system changes are well communicated, coordinated, and documented.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure standardization, performance, and secure solutions.
- Continuously improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, including diagrams on all server and storage systems, services, and connectivity.
- Practices asset management and maintains updated component inventories, related documentation, and technical specifications.
- Maintain knowledge of virtualization, server, and storage technologies, methodologies, and standards. Acquire and effectively apply new technical skills as driven by business need and/or technology advancements.

- Establishes and maintains a high level of customer trust and confidence in the team’s knowledge of and concern for educational and business needs.
