PSA (Pattonville Success Academy) Alternative Education Teacher / Credit Recovery Instructor - Learning Center - 2026-2027
Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered educator to support students in an alternative learning environment. This position focuses on helping students stay on track to graduate with their cohort by guiding them through an online curriculum, providing individualized support, and building positive relationships that encourage academic progress and personal growth.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate and supervise student learning using an established online curriculum platform.
Support up to approximately 20 students in an alternative setting.
Monitor student progress and provide individualized academic support to help students remain on pace toward graduation requirements.
Maintain accurate student attendance records and ensure proper documentation.
Communicate regularly via email, on the phone, and in person with parents/guardians regarding student progress, attendance, and behavior.
Monitor and address student behavior, maintaining a structured, supportive learning environment that fosters accountability and respect.
Coordinate and collaborate with counselors, administrators, and other professional staff members to support student success and address academic or behavioral concerns.
Attend required staff meetings, student support meetings, professional development sessions, and other meetings/planning sessions.
Utilize appropriate instructional materials, learning strategies, and interventions to meet the diverse needs of alternative education students.
Maintain accurate records of coursework completion, academic performance, and student progress within the online learning system.
Assist students in developing organization, time management, and self-advocacy skills necessary for graduation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Missouri certification.
Experience working with alternative education, credit recovery, or at-risk students preferred.
Strong relationship-building and classroom management skills.
Ability to motivate and support students with diverse academic and personal needs.
Comfortable working with technology-based instruction and online learning platforms.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and student success.
Desired Qualifications:
Any Missouri 9-12 teaching certification(s) in one or more of the following subject areas:
9-12 English
9-12 Mathematics
9-12 Science
9-12 Social Studies
Work Hours: 7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 calendar)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027)
