French Teacher - Holman Middle School - 2026-2027

Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher, to join our team. Position Summary: The Foreign Language Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal(s), develops students' knowledge, skills, and abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in a language other than English. The position also fosters student understanding and appreciation of the cultures, traditions, and perspectives of countries where the target language is the primary means of communication through engaging, standards-aligned instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Designs and delivers foreign language curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and instructional standards.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment conducive to individualized and small-group instruction.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans and instructional materials that translate into meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
  • Teaches language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with emphasis on comprehension, grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary, and proper word usage.
  • Develops student understanding and appreciation of the cultures, traditions, and perspectives of countries where the target language is predominantly used.
  • Monitors and assesses student learning and progress on an ongoing basis and adjusts instructional methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Implements district-adopted and standardized assessments to support instruction and maximize student achievement.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student achievement, grading, and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies.
  • Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage engagement in the educational process.
  • Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Collaborates with professional staff members, particularly within grade-level or content-area teams, and participates in faculty meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and strategies consistent with district curriculum requirements.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri French K-12 certification.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and student success.


Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

Travel Requirements:

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary school reading curriculum and concepts.
  • Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Work Hours: 7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week

Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 calendar)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027)
