Position Overview
The District Substitute position functions as an instructional and administrative support role, dedicated to reinforcing classroom objectives through the adaptation and implementation of educational materials and activities. Key responsibilities include instructing students individually or in small groups, monitoring student progress in varied settings to ensure a safe learning environment, and administering academic tasks such as tests and homework under the guidance of a Lead Teacher. Beyond direct student interaction, the role involves performing essential clerical duties, maintaining accurate records, and participating in professional development to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the instructional program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives in the assigned program.
- Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and /or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Communicates with Lead Teacher and Supervisor for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student's progress.
- Instruct students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of CTE settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Performs general clerical tasks (e.g. student attendance records, requisitions for supplies, making copies, etc.) for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready.
- Supports Lead Teacher and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current K-12 Teaching License OR Current Substitute Teaching License issued by the Ohio State Board of Education or ability to obtain one; OR 1 Year Multi-age (P-12) Temporary Non-Bachelor's Substitute License.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Documentation of a clear criminal record check (Board Policy 3121)
- Must be able to communicate well and work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in operating office equipment and using modern office technology, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and virtual meeting platforms.
Drug-Free Workplace Requirement
