Work Schedule: 190-day contract. While most job responsibilities are during the day, some night activities may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY: A BCBA in a school district supports students with behavioral challenges by applying principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). The role focuses on improving student behavior, academic success, and social skills through assessment, intervention planning, and collaboration with school staff and families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Observe students in the school environment; create and assist District staff with the development of systems to collect data of student behaviors.
  • Lead IEP teams in the analysis of behavior and development and implementation of functional behavioral assessments, in consultation with the building's respective Behavior Specialist.
  • Create and assist District staff with the development and implementation of behavior plans for students with disabilities that present behavior challenges.
  • Analyzes behavioral information and data provided from multiple sources in developing and revising behavior intervention plan strategies.
  • Confer with members of the IEP or 504 team and district staff individually, in an IEP or 504 meeting, or in conference to exchange, discuss and evaluate student information for planning, and modifying, and coordination of treatment programs.
  • Implement and assist District staff with data collection, review and modification of intervention according to data.
  • Develops materials, training and provides resources for and provides professional learning to administrators, educators, para-educators, and parents regarding evidence-based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavior difficulties.
  • Provide model teaching and other direct instructional support to promote the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to support professional and other District staff to understand behavior, implementation of plans and strategies, and how to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors.
  • Keep current with the literature, new research findings, and resources as well continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification.
  • Establishes a positive rapport with students, co-workers, parents and administrators which conveys enthusiasm and caring.
  • Communicates clearly with students, co-workers and administrators.
  • Shares appropriate information with building principals, supervisors and co-workers through behavior documentation and participation in team meetings.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of students and families.
  • Maintains record of physical management of students.
  • Participates in training in behavioral strategies to staff including, but not limited to, Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Records and submits complete notes for medicaid billing for billable students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
  • Complies with all school, district, state, and federal guidelines and Bryant Public Schools policies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Special Education or related human services field; Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of 2 years preferred with successful completion of formal training in the analysis of behavior.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Completed a Master's degree in Special Education or a human services-related field.

Computer Skills: Demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

Certifications & Licenses: Possess a current BCBA certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most job responsibilities for this position are performed in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled (heated and cooled) according to the season. Due to the nature of a behavior program and the students assigned to these programs, requires the ability to work in a stressful environment.
