Job Description

SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Has a high school diploma or equivalent

Appropriate maintenance experience training and education may be 

Considered in lieu of the high school diploma

  1. Five years of verifiable experience through professional sources as an 

Automotive mechanic, three (3) of these years must have been as a mechanic working on heavy equipment such as trucks and busses or comparable equipment

3. Must be capable of performing administrative duties as well as mechanical duties 

  1. Have a comprehensive understanding of standard repair methods for 

Motor vehicles, including passenger automobiles, busses and trucks 

  1. Must have knowledge of parts and equipment suppliers and the proper

method of ordering

  1. Possess oral and written communication skills and demonstrates the

ability to follow and make necessary oral and written instructions and reports as they apply to the operation of a maintenance/repair facility

 7. Is knowledgeable about current and/or developing automotive energy

saving devices and fuels, including propane, diesel, etc.

REPORTS TO: Bus Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION GOALS: Assist the Supervisor in schedule of repairs and process necessary paperwork to ensure proper maintenance of all district owned vehicles

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

$30/hour 

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

1. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

1.01 Is responsible for assisting and repairing and maintaining district owned vehicles and equipment

1.02 Establishes, schedules, operates a preventative maintenance program for all district owned 

vehicles, including periodic inspections of busses and the annual Highway Patrol inspection

1.03 Performs the diagnosing and repair of district automotive equipment

1.04 Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work

1.05 Maintains high standards of safety and good house-keeping methods in all work connected areas

1.06 Reports all conditions that present safety hazards on busses and other automotive equipment immediately to the superintendent

1.07 Recommends to the Supervisor that purchasing of all supplies

1.08 Performs any other related work as directed by the Supervisor
