
Elementary Physical Education Teacher - Roving
Job Description
Physical Education (PE) teachers organize games and challenges that promote physical activity among Elementary school children. Their goal is to develop motor and physical skills and proper exercise and eating habits among younger children. PE Teachers must adjust their curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teaches physical education as a traveling teacher at one or more of the District’s elementary schools.
- Helps students develop physical abilities and healthy habits by organizing games and challenges that adapt to all children and all physical abilities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Uses a variety of instructional materials.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functioning learning environment.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.
- Supervises students in and out of classroom activities during the school day.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing programs.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
An earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Credential
- A valid Single Subject PE credential
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- It is the responsibility of each coach to adhere to the policies of the Glendale Unified School District.
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students.

Under the Supervision of the Site Principal and/or Administrator.

SALARY SCHEDULE
Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Glendale Unified School District and the Glendale Teachers Association, this position aligns with salary schedule A or B, depending on the credential type, verifiable years of prior service, and educational history verified through an official transcript from an accredited university or college.
