What is this role?
Are you an EHS professional interested in working with a diverse group of early-stage biotech companies, researchers, and spaces? LabCentral is hiring an Environmental Health and Safety Senior Associate to support our laboratories in Cambridge. This role will report directly to the EHS Associate Director. You will be a strong fit for this role if you have 1-2 years of relevant experience in the EHS field. We are looking for a self-directed, organized individual who enjoys working with scientists to understand their cutting-edge science and support their safety and compliance needs.
What will I do?
Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day is focused on ensuring that the laboratories are operating safely, and residents have proper resources to sustain a safe working environment. Every day is different, so flexibility and responsiveness are key while delivering value on projects and other commitments.
- Be a champion of safety and proactively look for chances to encourage staff and residents to do the same
- Provide direction to residents and staff to ensure a safe and compliant workplace
- Aid in managing hazardous waste program
- Assist with the implementation and further development of EHS programs
- Act as liaison with EHS contractors and LabCentral staff and residents
- Coordinate EHS activities and communications for staff and resident companies
- Support the EHS Associate Director in hazard assessments and project registration reviews
- Serve as an emergency coordinator
- Conduct and participate in organization of emergency and evacuation planning and response
- Enhance EHS training offerings for staff and residents
- Track and schedule required trainings for staff
- Participate in incident investigations and help to ensure root cause and corrective and preventive measures are identified and implemented
- Maintain permits and registrations in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements
- Other responsibilities as needed and appropriate to support staff and our resident safety programs
What do I bring?
Desired qualifications:
- Ability to work on location in Cambridge, MA including after-hours as needed
- Must be willing to obtain or have OSHA HAZWOPER, EPA RCRA and DOT training certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience managing relationships with vendors, service providers, and scientists
- Experience in biotechnology R&D and PD laboratory activities
- Experience in local, state, and federal EHS regulatory compliance
- Experience working with a cross-functional team
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees and residents
- Ability to ask questions to understand novel, complex technologies and the potential impact on EHS programs

Work environment:
- Fully onsite at our locations in Cambridge during regular business hours
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods, ability to move around an office and lab environment, and ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds

Compensation
Our compensation philosophy is intentional and researched to align with average market salaries; comprehensive, generous benefits to support overall well-being; and parity with our existing and future team members. Below details the value of what our compensation package may look like, but specific details pertaining to an individual will vary.
Salary range: $55-66k along with the potential to earn a bonus of 7% based on company performance.
Approximate monetary value of benefits (based off an individual – dependents increase value): $22,000.
