26-27 Substitute Bus Aide Position

POSITION: School Bus Aide - Substitute

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma 

Willingness to work with children with handicapping conditions. 

Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

REPORTS TO: Transportation Director and Assistant Superintendent of Operations 

JOB GOALS: To assist in the transporting of students with handicapping conditions, and to assist in the supervision of special education students and preschool students. 

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

1. Assist children across streets and highways. 

2. Load and unload children from school buses and other vehicles. 

3. Maintain order on the school bus or other school vehicles. 

4. Secures the children with safety belts in their seats. 

5. Maintains proper seating discipline. 

6. Informs children about safety regulations and practices. 

7. Knowledge of the practices and procedures of assisting students with handicapping conditions on and off the school bus. 

8. Knowledge of safety practices and precautions when assisting students with handicapping conditions and preschoolers across highways and streets. 

9. Additional Duties May be Assigned.
