Part Time Custodians
Job Description
Part time custodians needed on an on call basis to help with general cleaning and maintenance in the district wide buildings.
Qualifications: Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License, Must be available for overtime when needed, Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL):
- Must use AESOP system to record your own vacation/sick/personal time/used comp time
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, buffs and vacuums classrooms, hallways, stairways, gym and cafeteria areas and office areas
- Responsible for cleaning all the glass windows and doors throughout the school
- Set up and take down for school functions and outside groups
- The following items shall be dusted once a week: bookshelves, window ledges, furniture, TV/overhead carts, etc.
- Clean whiteboards twice a week
- Replace burned out light bulbs as needed
- Clean restrooms on a daily basis
- Every classroom, office area, athletic area, cafeteria and computer and science lab needs to be dry mopped, vacuumed or wet mopped daily. The garbage and pencil sharpeners emptied daily then secure the room by making sure the windows and doors are locked
- Clean all sinks in classrooms twice a week
- Turn exhaust fans on and off as needed for the restroom and kitchen areas
- Lock and unlock doors for after school events
- Doors are to be opened 15 minutes before evening groups arrive and if you have security gates they should be locked
- Remove snow and debris from sidewalks (only for evening events)
- Maintains building by performing minor and routine maintenance
- Maintains school grounds
- Always turn off coffee pot in the teacher's lounge at the end of the day
- Fix broken lockers and desks
- Every night the restrooms need to be swept or cleaned, garbage dumped and the urinals/toilets flushed
- Before leaving the building in the evening, during the heating season, make sure the boiler is running properly
- Before leaving the building in the evening make sure the building is secure, windows and doors are locked, security gates are up and lights are off
Elementary Schools, 2nd Shift Custodian Job Description
- During the summer all the furniture and walls are scrubbed, all the floors are scrubbed or stripped and re-waxed. The wood gym floors are scrubbed or screened and refinished. Painting and maintenance projects are also done. Major and minor repair jobs are to be completed
- Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License
- Must be available for overtime when needed
- Perform such other duties as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor K-8

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
