Job Description
JOB PRIORITY:
To support the classroom teacher in providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that nurtures the academic and social-emotional development of young learners in a diverse, internationally-minded school community.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction and supervision of a certified classroom teacher:
- Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate learning activities that align with early childhood education best practices and international education themes.
- Assist with the preparation, organization, distribution, and clean-up of classroom materials and learning centers.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to reinforce learning and promote independence.
- Encourage positive behavior, social-emotional growth, and respectful interactions among students.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist with transitions, routines, and classroom management throughout the school day.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including training related to early childhood education, cultural competence, and the international frameworks.
- Support the school’s commitment to multilingualism, global citizenship, and inquiry-based learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal, or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree, minimum of 60 college credits, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (or equivalent).
- Experience or interest in working with early childhood or elementary-age children.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive and globally aware classroom environment.
- Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.
