Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: To support teachers by assisting with classroom instruction, management, and non-instructional tasks that promote student learning. Paraeducators help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that nurtures both the academic and social-emotional development of students in New London's diverse, internationally minded school community.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under supervision of a licensed teacher, sets up, distributes, and collects instructional materials.
  • Assists in classroom management and instructional support of students.
  • Supports the teacher with non-instructional tasks (e.g., supervision, organization).
  • Participates in in-service training and professional development.
  • Follows program rules, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned by the teacher, principal, or designee.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or High School Diploma with a passing score on the ParaPro Exam.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year to be established by the Board.

SALARY: $18.82 per hour
