
ESY Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Job Description
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: July 7, 2026 - August 8, 2026, up to 6 Hours/Day X 20 Days, M-Th
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The RBTs assist the BCBAs as directed with behavior reduction assessments and skill acquisition plans.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This description of the position of Registered Behavioral Technician is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs.
- Measurement
- Prepare, enter, and update all data related to students on caseload.
- Assessment
- Collect data about students' behaviors through direct observation.
- Describe and record students' behaviors in measurable terms.
- Assist BCBAs with assessment procedures
- Assist therapist in formulating new goals based on data analysis.
- Skill Acquisition o Collaborate with BCBAs to create a skill acquisition plan for the student and implement procedures to encourage the student's acquisition of the desired skill.
- Implement individualized/small group therapeutic program prescribed by the BCBAs based on goals and objectives.
- Model appropriate behaviors.
- Behavior Reduction o Collaborate with BCBAs to create a behavior reduction plan and implement interventions and differential reinforcement procedures.
- Teach students the specific behavior skills called for in treatment plans.
- Nurture students' social skills.
- Documentation and Reporting o Generate a complete report while complying with all applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to share information and expertise to plan and implement effective student programs.
- Communicate behavioral intervention results in students' parents and caregivers.
- Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice
- Maintain clear lines of communication and professional boundaries and implement supervisors' feedback to improve your professional performance
- Assist BCBAs as directed.
- Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Registered Behavior Technician certificate through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to physically move about the building
- Ability to lift and position students (30-80 pounds) if assigned to a classroom with such requirements
- Ability to make minor decisions with minimal supervision in accordance with established procedures
- Ability to participate in approved behavior management procedures, Crisis Prevention Training and to apply training in crisis situations including student restraints as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual; English and Spanish
