Recreation Coordinator

Pay: $27.23 per hour

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday

Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) proudly operates the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping non-citizens gain valuable skills and treatment necessary for success upon release. 

What you'll do: You will direct the work of the recreation assistant. Responsible for coordinating and providing structured, well-rounded recreation programming in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Essential functions: 

1. Supervise the instruction of detainees in recreation activities.
2. Oversee the preparation of a variety of well-planned recreation activities including individual and team sports, special interest programs and others.
3. Manage the development and distribution of weekly, monthly and annual recreational plans and activities schedules.
4. Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs and recommend purchases. Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and recreational equipment.
5. Provide information regarding special and scheduled activities.
6. Requires long periods of walking, standing, and physical activity.
7. Regular attendance is required.
8. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
9. Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements: 

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education or related field and three (3) years’ experience in the coordination of recreation activities preferred. Must successfully complete required pre service training. Driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
