Job Description
Position Title: Middle School Volleyball Coach
Reports To: Building Principal/Athletic Director
Salary: $900.00 Stipend per the SEA CBA
Start Date/End Date: January, 2027 – March, 2027
Job Summary:
The Middle School Volleyball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volleyball program for grades 6–8. This includes skill development, game strategy, practice planning, and fostering a positive, respectful team environment that supports both athletic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective practice plans focused on skill-building, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Managing substitutions and in-game adjustments and building communication and synergy between players.
- Instruct student-athletes in the rules, and strategies of volleyball.
- Consistently model and promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and mutual respect. Treat every player with dignity, fostering a strong sense of self-worth and belonging, while upholding respect for opponents, officials, and spectators always.
- Ensure all players have a meaningful opportunity to participate and develop in every practice and game.
- Supervise student-athletes during all team-related activities.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with players, parents, and school administration.
- Organize and manage team equipment and uniforms.
- Uphold academic eligibility standards and support the academic success of all team members.
- Support player development by ensuring every athlete has an opportunity to play in every game.
- Attend all required district or school coaching meetings and training courses.
- Model professional behavior, integrity, and ethical coaching standards always.
- Follow all school, district, and league policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching or playing experience in volleyball, at the middle school or club level.
- "Ability to effectively demonstrate proper skills and drills to athletes.
- Skill development demonstrated is (serving, passing, hitting and blocking).
- Game strategy demonstrated (rotations, formations, attacking and defending).
- Organized, Communicator, and able to analyze and respond to game situations.
- Understanding of adolescent development and the ability to mentor young athletes
- Demonstrates the ability to inspire/motivate confidence in student-athletes by fostering positive emotions such as enthusiasm, joy, and excitement, which contribute to enhanced performance and overall team morale.
