Summary:
The AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer is a visionary leader tasked with the design, implementation, and support of innovative, technology-enhanced learning experiences that prioritize the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This role serves as a crucial link between pedagogy and technology, empowering both our scholars and instructional staff to harness AI responsibly and effectively to elevate teaching, learning, and operational efficiency. By positioning AI as a transformative tool, this position fosters critical thinking, creativity, and personalized learning while upholding human-centered teaching practices.
Description of Instructional Coach
- The AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer instructional coach is a full-time position focused on building teacher skills for technology-infused learning at the school level. The AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer works closely with other instructional leaders to coordinate teacher development to achieve school instructional goals. The AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer leads 1:1 and group coaching to equip teachers to effectively leverage technology in the classroom to create powerful learning experiences for students.
- While the AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer may support at times with devices, they are instructional leaders who champion and support meaningful technology integration. The coach works to ensure that every teacher in the building has the opportunity to become proficient in leveraging technology in the classroom to access deeper learning through rigorous and relevant lessons.
- In addition to 1:1 coaching and capacity building within professional learning communities, the coach creates and leads a team of teacher leaders who advocate the use of technology to enrich learning experiences. These are passionate teachers who meaningfully integrate technology into their lessons to improve student outcomes while providing additional support to their colleagues, which accelerates change across the school campus. Lastly, the coach helps lead student learning opportunities with STEM initiatives that introduce students to compelling careers and technical skills necessary to be successful in those careers.
- This position requires strong instructional practices, a student-centered learning philosophy, creative problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an eagerness to take a leadership role. Successful candidates for this position should possess strong pedagogical skills, though they may not yet be technology experts. The AI/CS/VILS Digital Literacy Engineer will equip teachers with the technological knowledge they need to lead and thrive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to seamlessly integrate AI tools into curriculum and instructional practices.
- Teach Computer Science skills to our Scholars and educators through Digital Literacy.
- Design and deliver technology-infused, content-based lessons that leverage AI-driven personalization and adaptive learning platforms.
- Support blended and online learning initiatives, including AI-powered tutoring and assessment tools.
- Training every teacher and scholar on how to use Khanmigo and Khan Academy effectively.
- Plan and conduct job-embedded training sessions for educators and staff focused on AI literacy, ethical use, and practical classroom applications.
- Develop resources and workshops to enhance teacher confidence in utilizing AI for lesson planning, differentiation, and student engagement.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies for instructional relevance and ensure compliance with district policies.
- Serve as a liaison between district technology initiatives and school-based implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Promote digital equity and accessibility in all AI-related implementations.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of AI-enhanced instructional programs, recommending improvements based on data and feedback.
- Ensure compliance with student data privacy laws and ethical AI guidelines.
- Consistently model Win-Win leadership principles.
- Collaborates with Digital Promise staff and school leadership to develop and execute strategic plans that advance school digital equity goals
- Collaborates biweekly with Digital Promise staff to build skills via coaching sessions in order to effectively support teachers and achieve strategic goals
- Conducts classroom observations to collect data on levels of technology integration to inform 1:1 coaching and guide professional learning support for the school
- Leads and supports teachers in the integration of effective uses of digital technology through consistent practices, including structured coaching cycles with goals and progress monitoring, and informal support such as sharing research-backed resources
- Promotes a strong culture that leverages technology in both student and adult learning spaces.
- Participates in ongoing professional development related to developing expertise in the field
- Collaborate with school IT to nurture and grow student leadership opportunities for supporting device systems and STEM learning
- Captures artifacts of innovative learning practices to document evidence of school success and partnership impact
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching experience required (minimum three years, recommended five or more years)
- Instructional leadership/coaching experience is valuable but not required
- Strong history of innovative teaching practices
- Demonstrated expertise in educational technology and AI applications. Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Google Classroom, Khanmigo, Magic School) and other AI-powered tools.

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles and AI integration strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to train and mentor adult learners effectively.
- Preferred familiarity with generative AI tools and adaptive learning platforms.
- Knowledge of ethical AI use, digital citizenship, and accessibility standards.
- Experience in developing technology-enhanced curriculum and personalized learning pathways.
