HEALTH ASSISTANT/OFFICE CLERK
Hiring Pay Range: $18.40 - $19.53 per hour, DOE
FTE 1.0 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm (includes 30 minute unpaid meal break)
Non-Exempt, Eligible for Benefits
194 paid workdays per year
Location: Valley View Early Learning Center

Definition:
Under direct supervision of the school administrator and/or general supervision of the Health Coordinator, School Nurse, performs clerical work of routine difficulty and provides daily health services to students and staff when needed
Essential Functions:

Tasks:
Office Clerk:
- Process and maintain daily student attendance records and verify absences.
- Maintain automated student records and generate reports, such as enrollment reports, and class lists.
- Assist with student registration and withdrawal activities.
- Assist school administrator with daily staffing issues using AESOP, as well as Quality First Scholarship program qualifying and reporting.
- Assist staff, students, parents and visitors with general CFSD information and directions to specific campus locations.
- Collect tuition payments and miscellaneous forms.
- Answer phones, route calls and take messages.
- Generate standard word processing and spreadsheet documents.
- Sort and distribute mail.
- Maintain calendar of school events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Health Assistant:
- Provide basic first aid for minor illnesses and accidents.
- Observe, report and record information related to students condition on daily logs.
- Consult with principal or school nurse regarding a serious injury or incident.
- Administer medications and special procedures to students.
- Assist in health screening such as lice checks.
- Maintain and update student health records.
- Assist with school immunizations compliance program.
- Compile statistical data for state reports as directed.
- Maintain needed office supplies and equipment.
- Assure neatness of health equipment and supplies.
- Observe and report school health hazards.
- Communicate observations to school nurse, staff, principal and parents as appropriate.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of sterile and non-sterile wound care.
- Knowledge of Arizona State laws regarding student immunization requirements.
- Knowledge of universal precautions and Blood Borne requirements.
- Knowledge of communicable diseases.
- Knowledge of health emergency protocols.
- Knowledge of confidentiality requirements.
- Skill in identifying health matters that must be referred for professional assessment and treatment.
- Skill in accurately maintaining health records, including daily student logs.
- Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Must have the ability to respond to emergencies.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Current CPR and First Aid certificate and certification in a health-related field or equivalent, with school health class completion; six months of clerical experience. Two (2) years working in a school preferred.
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level I - IVPP Fingerprint Clearance card through Arizona Department of Public Safety.
