Job Description

[What the role is]

This is a 2-year position as a Service-Learning Catalyst, Lecturer in the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies.

We are seeking an experienced Service-Learning Educator to join our academic team in championing S-L as NP’s signature pedagogy across our academic faculty. This role involves building partnerships, mentoring faculty and students, and supporting research and innovation in Service-Learning. The successful candidate will have a strong educational background, community engagement experience, and a proven ability to manage complex projects and foster collaborative relationships. The candidate must be prepared to teach and supervise projects for youth and adult learners.

[What you will be working on]

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Curriculum development, course delivery (face-to-face/online) and project supervision for youth and adult learners in the following areas:

  • Social Sustainability

  • Project Management & Multidisciplinary Collaborations

  • Any of the module(s) offered in the School’s diploma programmes

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate implementation of Service-Learning modules across academic schools, ensuring alignment with diploma’s academic outcomes

  • Provide Service-Learning training and mentorship on best practices to faculty both within the Polytechnic

  • Establish and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including non-profits, government bodies, and corporations, to create meaningful Service-Learning projects

  • Handle administrative tasks such as event publicity, data management, procurement, and other duties essential to the successful execution of Service-Learning programs, while also participating in broader institutional activities

[What we are looking for]

  • Passion for Service-Learning and community engagement

  • Proven experience in Service-Learning pedagogy development and implementation

  • Strong understanding of social innovation concepts, trends, and practices, with hands-on experience in social enterprise, non-profit management or social impact consulting

  • Experience in establishing and sustaining partnerships with community and corporate organizations

  • Relevant sector knowledge and experience in the arts, culture, media or community development – as offered in the school’s diploma programmes – will be an advantage
