Position Summary:
The Supplier Development Manager is in charge of implementing Recovery, Development, and Assessment assignments at supplier sites as part of the Procurement Operations department. This position requires high flexibility for extensive travel (70-80%) throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. The individual will use a variety of Airbus and industry standardized tools and techniques.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supplier Development Management: 70%
- Enhance supplier relationships by supporting them in building and delivering continuous improvement plans and/or roadmaps.
- Deliver robustness throughout the Airbus supply chain including sub-tiers
- Restore & secure supplier quality and on-time delivery to the required level
- Improve supplier performance by implementing advanced actions
- Improve Supply Chain efficiency by eliminating waste
- Contribute to anticipate recurring supplier quality issues and initiate preventive measures
- Perform onsite inspection of Supplier Products
- Be the Eyes, Ears and Voice of Airbus at Supplier facilities
- Stakeholder Management: 20%
- Report regularly (weekly) and managing feedback to internal customers and stakeholders, this shall include supplier status and points for escalation
- Support the improvement of internal Airbus processes
- Special projects (may be cross-functional or cross-divisional)
- Lead internal trainings and mentor colleagues

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
- A Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years in professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations and/or Program Management
- Must have demonstrable experience utilizing quality management tools/techniques
Licensure/Certifications:
- Preferred: Operations management (MRP, APICS/CPIM certification)
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Supplier Recovery and Crisis Management
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Six Sigma
- Practical Problem Solving
- Lean methodologies
- Transfers of Work between Production sites and/or to other countries
- Capacity Assessments
- Auditing
- Supply Chain Operations
- Industrial Capability and maturity assessments
Physical Requirements
Vision: able to see and read computer screen
and other electronic equipment with screens,
able to read documents, reports and
engineering drawings.
Hearing: able to hear to participate in
conversations in person and via
teleconference or phone and to hear sounds
on production floor including safety warnings
or alarms.
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and
meetings, deliver information and participate
in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer,
telephone, copies, fax machine, and related
office equipment and using electronic
identification card to enter building floors and
internal doors): able to operate most office
and personal electronic equipment and some
tools including production tools such as
hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools,
drawings, electronic equipment up to
30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings,
electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small
office furniture and some equipment and
tools.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to
retrieve or replace items stored on low
shelving.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in
offices or on production floor.
Travel: able to travel independently and at
short notice.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a
shared printer to retrieve documents): able to
walk through office and production areas
including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to Administrative position only PPE required
Additional Physical Requirements
• The job content requires the ability to travel via car and airplane. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, carry luggage, and view computer monitor for long periods of time. Requires hearing and vision.
