Reports to: Freedom Schools Site Coordinator, Project Director, and Office of Educational Equity
Hourly Wage: $30.00 per student contact hours/ $21.00 per non-student contact hours

Work Year: May/June - July 2026
Schedule: June 3-6 (training for first and second year SLIs) June 17th-July 31st (no programming on Juneteenth or week of July 4)
Purpose: The mission of CDF Freedom Schools programs is to boost student motivations to read, generate more positive attitudes toward learning, increase self-esteem and connect the needs of children and families to the resources of their communities. The activity based Integrated Reading Curriculum (IRC), which is aligned to the Common Core State Standards, integrates reading, conflict resolution, and social action, and is designed to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for all scholars
- Punctuality- must get to work on time and follow the procedures for absences.
- Supervise and maintain the safety of scholars.
- Maintain professional decorum
- Set up, manage and take down classroom space according to standards outlined CDF and ISD 622.
- Engage a maximum of 10 scholars per class in the Integrated Reading Curriculum.
- Attend all required Ella Baker Child Policy Training Institute Training sessions. National Training for first and second year SLI's are May 28th- June 1st, 2024.
- Work with site staff to ensure that all program components are implemented with fidelity, including submitting lesson plans weekly.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding program operation to the Site Coordinator.
- Lesson plans should be turned in weekly
