Position Overview:
IHOP is looking for motivated and upbeat Servers in Training to join our team! As a Server in Training, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced team members to learn the ropes of providing outstanding guest service, mastering IHOP’s menu, and creating memorable dining experiences.
This is a great opportunity to build your skills, grow in the hospitality industry, and transition into a full Server position. If you’re passionate about learning, teamwork, and making people smile, we’d love to meet you!
Please note that this position is hourly and may transition to a tipped Server role upon completion of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow and assist experienced Servers in greeting guests, taking orders, and ensuring great service.
- Learn IHOP’s menu, specials, and guest service standards to confidently make recommendations and answer questions.
- Support food delivery and table service to maintain smooth operations and quick turnaround times.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining area.
- Learn how to accurately use the point-of-sale (POS) system for order entry and payment processing.
- Work with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure timely and accurate service.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and complete all learning checkpoints required to advance to a Server role.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and company procedures to maintain a safe and clean workplace.
Qualifications
- No prior restaurant experience required—training is provided!
- Strong communication and people skills with a positive, team-first attitude.
- Eager to learn and open to feedback.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be at least 16 years old (18+ preferred for advancement into a tipped Server role).
- Able to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
