Part-time Paraeducators/Personal Care Assistants (Classroom Assistant/1:1 Aide)
Job Description
Various hours and locations available but all positions have evenings, weekends and holidays OFF. School year AND year round schedules available. Positions start at $17.36/hr. Paid personal day and sick days ,as well as training opportunities are provided.
Paraeducators & Personal Care Assistants (PCA's) provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to students (or assigned 1:1 student) in Special Education classrooms in Lancaster & Lebanon County. The form of support needed for each assignment will depend largely on the type of classroom in which the paraeducator or PCA is assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Hold a PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or be willing to complete the FREE online program within 6 months of hire date), or
- Completed a minimum of 48 post secondary credits in ANY content area, or
- Completed associate degree or higher in ANY content area, and
- Willing to complete 20 hours of staff development each school year
AND
As required by the PA Department of Education: Each school year, provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position. Pro-ration will apply based on date of hire within the school year. - Certification Required: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Safe Crisis Management Non-Violent Crisis
Intervention (SCM) or Crisis Prevention Training and Safe Crisis Management
(QBS), as directed by program needs.
The strength and ability to lift and/or assist in lifting pupils of ages ranging from pre-school to twenty-one and any assistive appliances, for example: wheelchair. The ability to physically restrain students in emotional stress by using the Crisis Prevention Institute Training or Safe Crisis Management method for which training will be provided.
