Job Title: Computer Technician (Level 2)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Days of Work: 240

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides advanced technical support for District-wide technology systems and infrastructure. The Computer Technician II performs complex troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of hardware, software, and network systems. This position serves as a lead technician, assists in project implementation, and provides guidance to Computer Technicians and end-users. Reports to the Executive Director of Technology.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)

Provides advanced Tier II technical support for networked computer systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, interactive devices, and peripheral equipment.

Diagnoses and resolves complex hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.

Assists in the configuration, deployment, and management of servers, switches, routers, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.

Supports District-wide technology initiatives and major system upgrades.

Assists in system imaging, deployment automation, and device lifecycle management.

Monitors network performance and identifies potential system vulnerabilities or inefficiencies.

Maintains and supports cybersecurity best practices, including endpoint protection and user account management.

Provides technical guidance and mentorship to Computer Technicians and Technology Support staff.

Collaborates with the Executive Director of Technology in long-range planning and technology improvements.

Tracks, documents, and analyzes hardware repairs, help desk trends, and system performance metrics.

Assists in vendor coordination, warranty claims, and service agreements.

Maintains accurate inventory records of all technology equipment and assists with asset audits.

Prepares technical documentation, training materials, and written reports as directed.

Conducts on-site support at school locations and District facilities as needed.

Interacts with administrators, teachers, and staff in a professional and solution-oriented manner.

 

Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in Computer Technology, Information Systems, or related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in computer/network support, preferably in a K�12 educational environment or enterprise network setting. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or equivalent certifications preferred.

 

Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software configurations

Strong knowledge of network infrastructure and troubleshooting

Knowledge of Windows and/or macOS environments

Knowledge of Active Directory or equivalent user management systems

Knowledge of device imaging and deployment systems

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices

Knowledge of inventory management systems and documentation procedures

Knowledge of district-level networking standards and technology compliance requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Conducts duties in school and office environments with little significant exposure to environmental hazards. Work requires operation of computers, network systems, and technology

equipment. Physical demands include frequent walking between facilities and occasional lifting/moving of items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Local travel is required.
