- Review audio and visual elements. Select or suggest the most impactful clips. Provide data and context for graphic illustrations and data visualizations in your reports.
- Pitch story angles. Write and narrate scripts tailored for digital-first formats (text, short-form video, podcasts, etc.). Suggest an intro. Translate complex investigative processes into clear, highly accessible stories for a general audience in the style appropriate for the platform.
- Submit all story components for editorial approval.
- Supervise editing as required. For television news, isolate and assemble audio/video clips. Perform rough editing for radio and, if necessary, oversee the mixing process.
- Prepare live stand-ups; Propose questions and clips, and suggest their order.
- Deliver on air your reports, interviews and analysis segments dealing with fact-checking and news verification. As needed, collaborate with journalists in other regional bureaus and partner closely with the national Décrypteurs team on joint investigations.
- Inform newsroom management of any event that warrants a news flash or special coverage.
- Ensure the availability of the resources required to produce your reports (studio, booths, technician, etc.).
- Drive a news vehicle.
- Carry out all other related tasks as needed.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
