Job Description:
UPS Capital, one of the main UPS divisions, provides risk mitigation and insurance solutions for businesses of all sizes and industries along global supply chains.
We are seeking a commercially minded, process- and project-driven leader to evolve and scale our underwriting capability across our International Region (Europe, Asia, and the Americas). This is not a traditional underwriting role, but a platform leadership position sitting at the intersection of:
Underwriting expertise
Operational excellence
Systems and digital delivery
Policy administration

An annual salary in the region of £65,000

You will play a critical role in how underwriting is executed, scaled, and continuously improved, while retaining strong alignment to marine cargo risk and portfolio performance.
This role is ideal for a “builder-underwriter” - someone who thrives in transforming environments and wants to own and shape an underwriting engine end-to-end.
What you’ll do
1. End-to-End Underwriting Operations Ownership
Own and continuously improve submission-to-bind, policy administration and compliance workflows across Europe
Drive efficiency, standardisation, and scalability of underwriting processes
Identify bottlenecks and implement structured process improvements
2. Systems, Data & Digital Enablement
Lead the development and optimisation of:
Underwriting platforms
Workflow tools
Data flows and reporting infrastructure
3. Project & Change Leadership
Lead cross-functional transformation projects across operations, underwriting, and customer experience
Deliver initiatives aligned to growth, efficiency, and customer experience
Implement structured change management and measurable outcomes
4. Portfolio & Risk Contribution
Contribute to underwriting decisions on complex cargo risks
Ensure alignment between risk appetite, pricing discipline, and operational execution
Support profitable portfolio growth through balanced commercial judgement
5. Sales & Commercial Partnership
Improve turnaround times and conversion
Enable scalable growth
Balance risk with commercial opportunity
6. Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop a high-performing underwriting operations team
Build a culture focused on execution excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
What you’ll bring
Experience in underwriting operations, process design, or transformation
Strong project management and change capability
Experience with systems, workflows, and digital tools
Commercial awareness and strong cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred
Marine/Cargo insurance experience
Exposure to MGA, Lloyd’s, or transformation environments
ACII or equivalent qualifications
