Job Description
DRIVER - BUS
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Must possess a current Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsement in accordance with A.R.S. 28-3101 and 28-3103.
Must have a current Arizona bus driver's certification.
Must have a driving record that is acceptable by the AZ Department of Public Safety.
High School Diploma or GED.
Demonstrates physical stamina and health.
Pass fingerprint/background check.
Ability to take direction, work independently and complete assigned tasks.
Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, parents, community and staff.
Evidence of ability to effectively use technology to perform duties.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Obey all traffic laws.
Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Obey all regulations under F.C.C. for radio operation.
Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
Adhere to assigned schedule.
Check bus before operation for mechanical defects in accordance with state regulations.
Notifies the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure or lateness.
Discharge students only at authorized stops.
Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
Transports only authorized students.
Report all accidents and complete required reports in a clear and legible manner.
Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
Must be able to pass a physical performance test as required and outlined in the Minimum Standards for School Buses and School Bus Drivers.
Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and drag 125 pounds a minimum of 30 feet.
Individual must have the physical stamina, health, and flexibility necessary to bend, stretch, crouch, kneel, stoop, lift, pull, push, and climb.
Repetitive functions are common and necessary to perform the responsibilities of a school bus driver
Extended periods of standing.
Ability to drive to school and out of district sites.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The employee regularly works indoors, outdoors, and on a school bus.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
