Special Education Counselor (SY 26-27)

Responsibilities:

• Perform counseling assessments
• assist with behavior management
• collaborate with behavior team
• provide counseling for students as delineated by IEP services
• Serve as member of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee to assist with appropriate placement and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in counseling from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas license as Licensed Professional Counselor granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors
• Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
• Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
• Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and other behavior specialists
