
Specialist - College and Career Readiness (NMHS)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student enrollment in collegiate classes in high school and post-graduation. Assist the administrative staff in providing a rigorous college-bound culture for students and facilitate the delivery of student opportunities to ensure student success in postsecondary collegiate endeavors.
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- Thorough understanding of school operation and pedagogy
- Experience with differentiation of instruction
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge and experience in best practices and high-yield strategies
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proactive problem-solving skills demonstrating initiative and teamwork
- A strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to the improvement of instruction for students
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements and challenges associated with advanced academic classes
- A commitment to the belief that all students can learn and to the mission of educational opportunities for all
- Three to five years of successful classroom experience and/or three to five years experience working in the college access landscape.
- Plan, implement, communicate, and evaluate TSIA2 testing for the purpose of dual credit and/or college enrollment
- Manage all aspects of college acceptance and enrollment for the graduating seniors, including but not limited to applications, Dallas Promise path, scholarships, and financial aid
- Act as the campus dual credit manager
- Knowledge of CCMR A-F accountability
- Develop and implement ways to grow all levers relating to college readiness
- Ability to track and organize data
- Ability to effectively engage with feeder pattern schools, staff members, and parents to inform, encourage and grow college readiness programming
- Disseminate information and provide training regarding current research and new developments in assigned areas
- Develop and manage student celebration initiatives with regards to dual credit and college readiness
- Work in tandem with school counselors, advanced academics team, administrators, and CCMR committee to ensure all parties are actively working towards a college-going culture for all students
- Manage relationship and campus plan with all college advisors assigned to your campus
- Engage in professional development to grow knowledge and skills in the area of postsecondary readiness and attainment
