Job Summary

Salem School District is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Building-Based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Unlike a traditional 1:1 RBT, this role serves as a premier behavioral resource for the entire school community. The Building-Based RBT acts as the "right hand" to the BCBA and Behavior Coach, deploying across various classrooms and programs to stabilize high-needs situations, ensure data integrity, and support the professional growth of the broader paraprofessional team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Building-Wide Behavioral Support: Implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for any student within the building as directed by the BCBA or Behavior Coach.
  • New Staff Mentorship: Assist in the onboarding of new paraprofessionals by providing direct coaching, modeling of behavioral techniques, and guidance on classroom protocols.
  • Data Collection & Integrity: Maintain rigorous and accurate behavioral data logs; assist the BCBA in graphing and analyzing data to monitor student progress.
  • Crisis Response: Serve as a key member of the building's crisis response team, utilizing district-approved de-escalation and physical intervention strategies (CPI).
  • Ethical Practice: Maintain active RBT certification through the BACB and strictly adhere to all ethical guidelines and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications & Credentials

  • Certification: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), or be actively enrolled in a program upon hire.
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Must be able to lift minimum 30 lbs.
  • Experience: * Minimum of 2 years experience working with students with significant behavioral needs.
    • Proven track record of high-fidelity data collection and implementation of complex BIPs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Versatility: The ability to transition quickly between different grade levels and student profiles (K-5) throughout the school day.
  • Leadership & Coaching: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively model behavioral strategies for peers and newer staff members.
  • Independence: Ability to work under the general supervision of a BCBA while exercising sound clinical judgment in the moment.
  • Organization: Excellence in time management and data entry to ensure all behavioral documentation is current.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be established by the school board by August 10th.

2026-2027 HOURLY SALARY: $19.56 plus $1.00 for a certification from the NH Department of Education as a paraeducator II or as a teacher.

An Educational Assistant who is currently certified as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) will receive a $3.00 per hour differential.

HOUR/DAY: 6.5

SCHOOL YEAR: 183 days/year

EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated no less than annually by the building administrator and immediate supervisor(s).
