6-8th Grade Science Teacher and Possible Girls Coach

Position Summary

LBJ Middle School is seeking a dedicated and engaging Science Teacher for grades 6-8 (grade level would depend on experience). The ideal candidate will create a positive, student-centered classroom environment while delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction. This position may include coaching responsibilities for girls athletics, depending on candidate qualifications and campus needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with Texas Education Agency standards and district curriculum
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs
• Assess student progress through formal and informal methods and adjust instruction accordingly
• Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment
• Collaborate with colleagues, including special education staff, to support all learners
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Participate in campus initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional development
• Sponsor or assist with extracurricular activities, including potential coaching duties

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate middle school science certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of science content and instructional best practices

Preferred:

• Experience teaching middle school students
• Coaching certification and/or experience (for candidates interested in coaching role)
