Gym Custodian at BRYSS Academy (Highschool)

Job Title: Gym Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodian assigned to the gymnasium and athletic facilities is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly environment that supports daily school operations, athletic activities, events, and special functions. This position ensures all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained in accordance with district standards, safety regulations, and established cleaning procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience preferred (school or athletic facility experience strongly preferred)
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and safety practices
• Ability to operate custodial equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums)
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds as required
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and events as needed

• Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner.
• Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching
• Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) daily
• Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

Salary: MIN: $14/hrly. MED: $14.96/hrly. MAX: $16/hrly.
