Job Description
POSITION:
- Chief Bus Mechanic/Bus Driver
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of and experience as a mechanic
- Proficiency in repair and maintenance of buses, trucks & maintenance equipment
- Basic knowledge in body repair, welding and fabricating
- Able to maintain records of all maintenance and work repair
- Able to maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping
- Able to serve as a bus driver when needed
- Able to respond to transportation related emergencies
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in relevant areas (e.g., brakes, diesel engines, electrical/electronic systems, compressed natural gas, school bus conversion equipment) preferred.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to school bus operation, vehicle emissions, inspections, and driver qualifications under all OAC 3301.83 codes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
- Must hold Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with School Bus (S), Passenger (P), and Air Brake endorsements.
- Must hold or be able to obtain Ohio School Bus Operator Certification via pre-service training and in-service requirements under OAC 3301-83.10.
- Must hold a current and complete physical
- Must hold current successful BCI & FBI background checks
- Must be willing to carry out the duties of the job description
- Successful Drug Screen
- Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent
