Title: Workforce Development Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Start Date: Monday, August 3rd, 2026
Summary: The Workforce Development Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities in the development of work-based learning opportunities for students across The Greater Ohio Virtual School. The WDC is responsible for identifying and recruiting industry partners, nurturing industry relationships, supporting the work-based learning coordinator, and training and monitoring students through all aspects of their work experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio teaching or administrative certificate/license. (Intervention Specialist or Transition to Work Endorsement preferred)
- Strong character and ethical standards.
- Commitment to continuous improvement concepts.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
- Access to own motor vehicle.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to maneuver stairs unassisted.
- Pass criminal background check.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate workforce development options with GOVS staff, outside agencies, and GOVS students/families.
- Meet with students to discuss possible job opportunities, pre-apprenticeships, and internship options
- Responsible for Work Study Courses & Programming
- Proctor off-site testing beyond Rise Up (STAR, State end-of-course exams, ACT)
- Prepare students for internship placement by facilitating training.
- Place students in internships based on career interests and skill levels.
- Monitor students' progress through site visits, check-ins, and communication with partners.
- Collaborate with counselors and/or other staff in order to: ensure that students have met requirements for internship placement; develop learning goals for students at their work-based learning sites; and intervene in student challenges at worksites.
- Search for industry partners that will help foster student and community success.
- Identify community partners who can create meaningful work-based learning opportunities.
- Manage and evaluate partnerships to ensure success for the students, partners, and community.
- Manage a centralized database to track student cases, internship placements, and partner information.
- Attend internal and external partnership meetings as needed.
- Performs all duties in conformity with the adopted Board Policy.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shall meet requirements of law and be governed by Ohio law and governing rules as set forth by the Greater Ohio Virtual School Board.
- Serve as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Helps instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Shall perform such other duties as the Governing Board may assign/determine.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the County/District.
- Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the Greater Ohio Virtual Schools, State and Federal OSHA laws, and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee of such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.

Performance Evaluation: Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the Greater Ohio Virtual School Governing Board.
