Job Description
SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE SUPPORT CLERK
Reports to: Supervisor of Counseling, Terms: 46 Weeks, 7:00 a.m. � 3:30 p.m.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume shared responsibility for the clerical functions of the High School counseling office and school counselors.
- Acquire and maintain a knowledgeable base of information concerning the total school program.
- Act as a liaison between the High School administration and faculty with the school community.
- Provide well-organized and accurate work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Take requests for homework, email requests to the teachers involved and collect homework for parent pick-up (if needed).
- Assist students in obtaining their working papers. Working papers are done for all residents of Windsor under the age of 18 in the Counseling Department. State of Connecticut rules apply.
Communication:
- Answer phones, take messages and screen/direct calls to the appropriate counseling office staff.
- Answer student questions and assist students with needs before, during and after school.
- Maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate.
- Organize counseling school mailings/communications/faxes for delivery to students, parents and school counselors.
Office Organization:
- Coordinate the efficient workflow of the school relative to the responsibilities of the High School Counselors and Counseling Supervisor.
- Complete clerical and copying responsibilities for the High School counselors.
- Make efficient use of time and resources available.
- Oversee distribution of student passes.
- Maintain all school counselor calendars for students meetings, etc
- Student Enrollment/Withdrawal and Records (Assist):
- Maintains cumulative student files
- Responds to requests for records, attendance, etc. received from schools, individuals, and community agencies, (i.e.,police, social services, social security and various community agencies).
Other:
- Perform all other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Counseling Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the operations of the department.
- Experience with PowerSchool, Naviance, GoGuardian preferred.
- Knowledge of Google Suites (email, doc, sheets, powerpoint, calendar).
- General knowledge of the principles of organization and administration.
