Job Description
Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.
1. General

a. Have a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the YISD Board of Education.
b. Have knowledge of existing district and UIL regulations; implement them consistently and interpret them for the staff.
c. Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests through the proper channels.

a. Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Conduct clinics and staff meetings.
b. Delegate specific duties, supervise implementation and analyze staff effectiveness.
c. Train and inform staff and encourage professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance.
d. Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation.
e. Perform other duties, which may be assigned by the principal or athletic director.

a. Assist the athletic director with scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sports events.
b. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times. Coordinate programs with maintenance and school employees.
c. Provide documentation to fulfill state and district requirements concerning physical examinations, parent consent, fail to warn, insurance and eligibility.
d. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment site.
4. Responsibilities to Students b. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times. Coordinate programs with maintenance and school employees.
c. Provide documentation to fulfill state and district requirements concerning physical examinations, parent consent, fail to warn, insurance and eligibility.
d. Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment site.
a. Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
b. Give constant attention to a student’s grades and conduct.
c. By his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling, provide assistance, guidance and safeguard for each participant.
d. Initiate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
e. Direct students, managers, assistants and statisticians.
f. Determine discipline
Part-time seasonal college/university student enrolled in at least six credited hours; ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. b. - Spring 2026 class schedule from an accredited college/university required for sports between the months of January through June 2026.
- Fall 2026 class schedule from an accredited college/university required for sports between the months of July through December 2026.
