ELOS Environmental, an Aventia Company (ELOS), is seeking a full-time Hydrologic Technician. ELOS’s expertise is ensuring environmental compliance with Federal, State, and Local enforcement agencies. Our goal is to assist clients in developing an approach to environmental compliance that balances development with natural and cultural resources protection.
ELOS’s new Hydrologic Technician will support and manage new and existing projects, assist with business development, management and creative problem solving. A proven track record of installing and managing stream and waterway gauges with the ability to collect and interpret the data collected. Along with the ability to perform data management and accurately track changes within a drainage system. The successful candidate must be motivated to identify, pursue, and broaden ELOS’s client base and industry presence, while providing exceptional attentiveness to our current client needs. The successful candidate must also be detail oriented, have strong oral and written communication skills, and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
- Installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting technical equipment like stream gauges, flow meters, pressure transducers, and sensors.
- Operate and manage storm water and water quality monitoring stations
- Record data from tests and compile information from reports, databases, and other sources
- Provide oversight, review, and interpretation of data as part of new or ongoing investigations, mitigation, or monitoring projects
- Management of data collection and analysis to accurately map stream flow and volume
- Help lead and organize team for project field efforts
- Prepares and reviews environmental reports, permits, and related materials
- Assists public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance
- Helps develop lasting professional relationships with current clients through quality client support
- Engage new clients through professional networking, marketing, and exceptional customer service and support
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, or related field
- 3+ years' experience in gauge installation
- Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations
- Solid organizational and technical writing skills
- Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Articulate with professional presence and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and applicable industry-related software packages
- Must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, including walking at least 3-5 miles of rugged terrain of remote locations, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
- Experience with rainfall data collection and interpretation (rain gauges or NOAA data)
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, stormwater modeling, or compliance software
