JOB DESCRIPTION
Phoenix Contact is seeking a motivated Bilingual Technical Specialist to join our technical support team. This is a great opportunity for a bilingual early-career professional to develop technical expertise, gain exposure to industry-leading automation solutions, and contribute to customer success while learning from experienced team members
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working with Phoenix Contact's Marking & Installation (MI) products while supporting solutions related to Cabinet Efficiency, Connectivity, Power Reliability, and Automation. You will receive training and mentorship while developing expertise in industrial automation and electrical technologies. Working closely with customers, distributors, sales teams, and engineering experts, you will help provide technical support, product recommendations, troubleshooting assistance, and training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Pre and Post Technical Support
• Provide technical support for all Phoenix Contact MI and ICS products
• Advise customers on product selection, application, and use.
• Provide pre‑sales support, including solution recommendations.
• Deliver post‑sales support through phone, email, remote diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Test products to resolve technical inquiries and provide proof‑of‑concept evaluations.
• Analyze competitive products and recommend equivalent Phoenix Contact solutions.
• Document customer interactions in the CRM system.
•Maintain strong relationships with customers and distributors.
2. Service & Repair Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and test customer‑returned devices in the MI portfolio.
• Perform basic repairs, testing, and failure analysis.
• Create and maintain testing, analysis, and repair procedures.
• Work with global teams and suppliers on root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare reports including failure analysis and disposition letters.
• Coordinate product returns with Quality and logistics.
3. Training, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Assist in creating documentation, guides, and customer resources.
• Provide product training to distributors, customers, and internal teams.
• Provide feedback for product improvements.
• Keep up to date on new technologies and industry trends.
4. Sales & Distributor Collaboration
• Qualify and develop leads for field sales.
• Support distributors with cross‑referencing and product recommendations.
• Coordinate with Sales and Product Marketing.
• Participate in meetings as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required:
• Must be Fluent in both English and French (written and verbal) is required.
• Strong interest in industrial automation, electrical systems, or technical support.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and learn new technologies quickly.
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to use, or learn to use, electronic test equipment.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Diploma or degree in:
• Electrical Engineering Technology
• Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology
• Automation Engineering Technology
• Electrical Engineering
• Or a related technical field
Preferred:
• Exposure to industrial automation, electrical/power systems, or technical support through co-op
placements, internships, laboratory work, capstone projects, or previous employment.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
• Experience presenting technical information to customers, classmates, or project teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift 20–25 lbs (demo products) and up to 50 lbs for MI equipment.
• Ability to travel to customer sites and by air.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
• Punctuality, adherence to company policies, and meeting participation.
