Job Summary

The Senior Production Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to Production Supervisors and frontline operations to ensure daily production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role acts as a key link between Production Management and shift supervisors, driving execution, accountability, and continuous improvement across the production floor.

 

Job Duties

Leadership & Supervision

Directly oversees and coaches Production Supervisors across assigned shifts and production areas
Establishes clear expectations for supervisors regarding safety, quality, productivity, and employee performance
Provides day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback to supervisors to build leadership capability
Supports the Production Manager in staffing decisions, training plans, corrective actions, and employee development


Production & Operations

Ensures execution of daily production plans and priorities as communicated by the Production Manager
Oversees shift-to-shift continuity, ensuring smooth handoffs and consistent execution across all production lines
Monitors labor utilization, manpower planning, and line performance, escalating issues and recommending adjustments as needed
Supports resolution of production challenges including downtime, labor shortages, quality issues, and scheduling constraints


Food Safety, Quality & Compliance

Ensures supervisors and employees consistently follow HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and all food safety requirements
Oversees completion, accuracy, and timeliness of food safety and production documentation across shifts
Partners with Quality Control and Production Management to implement and sustain food safety programs and audits
Reinforces food safety culture through observation, coaching, and accountability


Communication & Collaboration

Serves as a point of escalation for Production Supervisors related to people, process, equipment, and safety concerns
Works closely with Packaging Room Supervisor, Maintenance, Quality Control, and Sanitation to ensure uninterrupted product flow
Communicates operational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities to Production Management


Continuous Improvement

Identifies trends and opportunities related to safety, quality, efficiency, and labor effectiveness
Supports implementation of process improvements, standard work, and best practices across production areas
Assists with training supervisors on new procedures, equipment, and operational standards

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years of food industry experience, preferably in fresh-cut or perishable food manufacturing
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, including leading other supervisors or team leads
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop frontline leaders
Strong working knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and food safety documentation
Computer literate
Ability to proficiently speak, read, and write English


Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in food science, manufacturing, operations, or related discipline
Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training
Experience in high-volume, multi-line production environments
